Kilkishen N.S. is taking part in Friendship Week 2024 supporting the work of Amnesty International promoting human rights all over the world. Pupils will participate in lessons on the theme of Friendship this week promoting inclusion, respect, kindness and diversity. As part of Friendship week, pupils are invited to purchase Friendship bracelets promoting the themes of Friendship week and raising funds for children's charities all over the world. Bracelets cost €2 and can be purchased from each class teacher. The Activity Pack below describes what lessons pupils will be participating in throughout Friendship Week. Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week award winners. Each week pupils are asked to remember 3 important rules: 1. Show Respect 2. Do Your Best and 3. Complete Homework. In each classroom pupils that manage to demonstrate these on a daily basis are in the running for special weekly awards announced every Monday. Well done to all our award winners from Ms. Fawl, Ms. Whitney, Mr. Keane and Mr. Walsh's classes. Best of luck to everyone this week. Bhíomar ag ceiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge i Rang 4 agus 5. Bhí na páistí uilig ag obair go dian Gaeilge a cleachtadh agus a úsáid. Bhí réimse leathán imeachtaí ar siúl agus rinne gach duine sár-iarracht. Bhí an-craic againn! Bhí na páistí ó Naíonáin Mhóra agus Rang 1 an-gnóthach le seachtainí beaga anuas ag ceilíuradh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Glac siad páirteach i roinnt mhaith imeachtaí mar shampla: cluichí biongó, cluichí ar líne (ó Séideán Sí) agus Deir ó Grádaigh (Simon Says). Rinne na páistí gach iarracht chun Gaeilge neamhfoirmiúl a labhairt gach lá ar scoil. The children of Senior and Infants and 1st Class have been very busy recently celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge. They took part in many activities for example: Bingo games, online language games and Simon Says. The children made every effort to use informal Irish each day in school. The children enjoyed learning about St Patrick and getting ready for St Patricks Day. Enjoy the photographs of our Lá Glas (green day) which we had in school today. Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh ☘️! The students of 2nd class celebrated their First Reconcilation today with a hot chocolate and popcorn party. The students are very excited for their Communion on May 4th 2024. Thank you to Bernie Torpey and Father Donal for organising the mass. Also a big thank you to Edel McInerney who led the choir for the mass and also to Caroline and Ms. McNamara for their work on the artwork for the day. Thank you to Mary for making and distributing the hot chocolate which was a big hit with the children.
The school band and school choir have been very busy practicing for St Patrick's Day. Below you will hear them playing and singing Ireland's Call. Well done to all the boys and girls.
