Pupils received graduation certificates and a graduation gift at the End of Year award ceremony at the G.A.A. Clubhouse on Wednesday June 28.
Pupils in 5th and 6th class held a Teach The Class showcase day on Thursday June 22. Pupils worked in small groups and prepared a 20 minute lesson on a topic of their choice. A wonderful variety of lessons were delivered throughout the day on topics including Hamsters, How to Make Banana Bread, The History of the World Cup, Pompeii, Krakatoa, How to Make Cupcakes, The History of the Champions League, and Gymnastics to mention a few. Pupils delivered superb content using a variety of posters, ICT and fun activities to assess pupils learning. Well done to all that took part. Highlights of some lessons can be viewed below. Kilkishen N.S. pupils were delighted to welcome past pupil, Sean Boyce to Kilkishen N.S. on Friday June 23 to celebrate the All-Ireland and Munster Minor victories. Both cups were in attendance along with the Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 Camogie Shield. Highlights from the visit are available to watch below. Sports Day 2023 took place on Friday June 2023. Special guest, Seán Boyce, past pupil and member of the All-Ireland and Munster Minor winning team was present on the day to present our victorious camogie champions their Division 2 medals and raise our Green Flag for Biodiversity which was awarded to Kilkishen N.S. in May. Pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes headed to Tralee Co Kerry on their school tour on Wednesday June 14. The tour started with a visit to the Kerry County Museum in Tralee where pupils enjoyed the medieval experience of learning about the history of the town. They were treated to an archaeological activity where they examined an ancient find. Pupils enjoyed the wonderful Tralee Park in the centre of town before enjoying the water activities at the Aquadome in Tralee. The Kilkishen school camogie team received a heroes welcome as they paraded the Division 2 camogie shield through Kilkishen village on Friday June 16. Young and old lined the village to show their appreciation for a wonderful performance and victory. The panel of girls were introduced and spoke with supporters at the G.A.A. clubhouse. Thank you to all that were available to attend and marking this special achievement. Kilkishen/O'Callaghans Mills were crowned Division 2 Cumann na mBunscol champions with a stunning performance and victory over Sixmilebridge at Cusack Park on Thursday June 15. The girls saved their best performance of the year and recorded a famous victory to add to the Division 3 title won last year. Congratulations to all the girls involved. 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes had a fantastic day out on Thursday when they headed off on their school tour to Turoe Pet Farm. They started the day in Inflatable city, they then headed to play in Jungle Town, they got to feed and pet all the animals on the farm and played in both playgrounds. They finished the day on a high by coming back to Cusack Park to support the schools camogie team in winning the Cumann na mBunscol Final! Have a look at what they got up to below! 4th and 5th Class became engineers today and used critical thinking and problem-solving skills to create model wind turbines. They used the Engineering Design Process of imagining, investigating, developing, trying, testing and planning. Check out their wonderful designs below. Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week award winners. Each week pupils are asked to remember 3 important rules: 1. Show Respect 2. Do Your Best and 3. Complete Homework. In each classroom pupils that manage to demonstrate these on a daily basis are in the running for special weekly awards announced every Monday. Well done to all our award winners from Ms. Fawl, Ms.McNamara and Mr.Walsh's classes. Best of luck to everyone this week. 6th class pupils will celebrate making their Confirmation at Kilkishen church tomorrow at 12 noon. We look forward to a very special day! Congratulations to Ruadh Donovan on his selection to the Clare Primary team that will take on Limerick at half-time during Sunday's Munster Senior Hurling final at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
