Kilkishen pupils Clodagh, Emma and Molly were medal winners at the Clare Community Games finals held at Lee's Road Ennis on Sunday June 9. The three girls performed superbly to achieve golds and silver in these very competitive events with representatives from each parish in the county. Congratulations to 3rd and 4th class pupils Ellie Frost, Lily Boyce and Eoin Shanahan who have been working really hard on their reading and becoming word MILLIONAIRES on Accelerated Reader. It's great to see such an intetrest in books in our classroom and we look forward to meeting more word millionaires in the not so distant future! Keep up the great reading everyone.
Kilkishen NS participated in the Active Ennis Annual Schools Gala held at Active Ennis Leisure Complex today.
Students from second to sixth class competed in teams of four in a mixture of width and length swimming. The 3rd class girls team got the day off to a great start taking home a very impressive silver medal, with only three members on the day, and two members swimming in a category above their age group, this was a super achievement. The 3rd class boys also did very well, with only two members, Jack Nash and Aidan McInerney, they swam the 4 widths between them and placed 4th overall. The 6th class boys, and 4th & 5th boys and girls teams all placed 4th in their races. In the final race of the day the 6th class girls had us all on the edge of our seats as they swam their way to second place in an extremely close race. All the children can be very proud of themselves on great performances and representing the school so well. Schools have been asked to spread the word about Clare County Library's Children Summer Reading programme. The programme is a great initiative aiming to promote reading amongst children over the summer holidays. Please read the attached letter for more details. The following students were selected by their class teachers for exceptional effort as the "Stars of the Week" last week. Each pupil tried their best, showed respect and completed their homework each day. Congratulations to all pupils that managed to be in the running for the awards in each class. Keep up the good work and watch out for this week's winners! |
